Coaching

By UKCC qualified coaches

By popular demand the coaches at Verwood Cricket Club have been putting together plans for individual coaching over the winter period. Running on top of the usual team coaching sessions (times and dates to be announced shortly) this is an opportunity for your son to get tailored coaching by the qualified coaches we have within our club either on a 1-2-1 bases or in small groups.

1-2-1 Coaching

Our coaches (more information on individual coaches below) are available for hire on a 1-2-1 bases and can be booked by the hour. 1 hours a tailored tuition (on any aspect of the game to suit your son) costs £25 which includes the hire of a lane at the Dorset Cricket Centre, Hurn and the coach for 1 hour. These are to be booked direct through the coaches at a time mutually convenient.

Small Group Coaching

Our coaches will be running small groups sessions where 3 colt players get an hours tuition from one of our coaches on a specific theme (i.e. spin bowling, batting, etc). Once the bookings are confirmed at the Dorset Cricket Centre we will send out invitations to book your son on to any sessions they want to attend. Each session will be strictly for a maximum of 3 players to make sure they are received a good amount of tuition and will cost £10, again covering the cost of hiring the lane and the cost of the coach.

All the clubs coaches are CRB checked, first aid trained and some of the most qualified coaches in the local area.

Below is some more information on each of our coaches and how to get in contact with them.

Oliver Arnold ACO & UKCC 2 & Club Coach

Ollie lives in Parkstone with his wife Sarah and plays cricket for the midweek A team.

Ollie is passionate about a host of sports and is also a qualified hockey and rugby coach as well as a rugby referee, although he can’t kick a football to save his life. Outside of cricket he enjoys the outdoors and road cycling.

Ollie’s coaching heroes include Sir David Brailsford, and Sir Clive Woodward and can bore us silly about marginal gains and processes however when he is front of a group of young colts we are not sure who the child is!!

Chris King UKCC 1, 2 & Club Coach

As the co founder and some would say the god father of the Verwood youth section Chris needs little introduction. Chris  lives near Bransgore with his wife Zoe whose match teas are not to be missed, and they are expecting their first baby in November. Vice Captain of the Saturday 1st XI Chris is also the colts section representative on the clubs committee.

Outside of the cricket season Chris will be found watching the Mighty AFC Bournemouth’s rise through the leagues, skiing or in his shop, Shoe Doctor in Poole. Chris is passionate about the development of colts to enjoy their cricket at all levels of participation. As a fast paced and enthusiastic coach You will not see people standing still in one of Chris’s sessions.

Ali Gajic UKKC 1 & 2.

Ali has been at Verwood Cricket Club since he was a junior, and is now the opening bowler for the Saturday and Wednesday 1st XI's, therefore he spends much of his summer at Potterne Park  - in fact due to being the referee for the Rossgarth Under 14 football team and playing for Verwood Town he spends his winter at Potterne as well !

He's been a coach of the Colts team since the beginning and is now the lead coach for the under 14 age group. Ali has a terrific knowledge of all things cricket, and has a selfless attitude towards helping and supporting all that want to participate in this great game.

If he had a mantra for his coaching it would be " you get out, what you put in", his sessions are full of enthusiasm and fun whilst ensuring they have structure and meaning.
